St. Mary’s Lighthouse
I took this photograph of the beautiful St. Mary’s Lighthouse in a winter’s evening sun. The soft pastel colours were produced by the pinhole camera, while the long exposure time blurred the grass waving in the wind. The scratches, dust and scrapes on the negative only add to the mood of this photograph.
St. Mary’s Lighthouse was built in 1898 and is located on the St.Mary’s Island, north of Whitley Bay in Northumberland. The rocky tidal island is linked to the mainland by a causeway which only provides access at periods of low tide.
